200 Hour RYT

2019 –  N E W  INTENSIVE FORMAT !   June 1 – June 20 2019, Lahti, Finland

Are you ready to deepen and share your passion for yoga?  Whether you are interested in learning to teach, or are looking for the most in-depth and transformational exploration of your personal practice, our 200 hour Yoga Alliance-approved program will help you take that next step on your life path!  This training will prepare you with all the fundamentals to teach both yin yoga and "yang" styles of practice (hatha/vinyasa flow) in combination, or on their own.

This is a foundational training where we work a great deal with essentials of asana, the nuts and bolts of bodies, and fundamental teaching skills. But at its heart, yoga is not about the achievement of any particular physical form – yoga is a set of tools that can bring us into profound experience of our connection to all creation.  As teachers, we can learn not only to direct students intelligently in asana, but to enrich experience of this holistic aspect of the practice.

Influenced by studies with Paul Grilley, Leta strongly believes in empowering students by teaching with a functional approach, which stresses the "why" of doing a pose or technique as much as the "how," and takes into account the unique practitioner.  The development of this skill will be supported in every aspect of our TT program from learning about skeletal variation and biomechanics of asana, to our personal explorations of pranayama and meditation techniques and their effects on the subtle body.

Group sizes are small and we are particularly strong on practicum, so you will graduate the program feeling confident about teaching. (Though you absolutely do not need to intend to teach in order to join the program and deepen your practice :-)).

You can expect a physically, mentally and spiritually challenging program consisting of workshops, lecture, practice, readings, self study/reflection, and observation covering:

  • Study of foundational yoga postures
  • Principles of anatomy and how they apply to the practice of yoga
  • Skeletal variation -- learn to see and work with a variety of bodies
  • The science and art of sequencing a class
  • Teaching and practicing from a functional approach
  • Finding your voice and teaching from a heartfelt place
  • Confidence through practice teaching
  • Hands on adjustments and  Assisted Yin Yoga
  • Yoga history and philosophy
  • An introduction to the subtle body, pranayama and meditation
  • Beyond basic instruction -- how to theme, teach people instead of poses, and cue to different levels of awareness
  • Basic business for yoga and how to articulate your passion and purpose

Candidates who complete this program will achieve the following objectives:

  • Learn the skills and techniques to confidently and successfully plan and teach yoga classes.
  • Gain a more detailed understanding of foundational asanas informed by knowledge of functional anatomy for yoga.
  • Learn the philosophy of yoga and through self-study, reflection and practice, explore how to more fully integrate the principles yoga into life in order to inspire transformation in others.

About lead teacher Leta LaVigne:

Leta LaVigne, E-RYT 500, is a Seattle native who lives with her family in Lahti, Finland, where she founded yogaROCKS’ studios. She has been teaching full time since 2008, having started with hot yoga and moved into vinyasa flow and yin. She draws from all of these traditions to craft intuitive classes that often combine dynamic movement with the depth and stillness of yin asanas, drawing awareness through body, muscle and bone, to the subtle breath and inner landscape. Her teaching style has been influenced very much by studies with Yin Yoga pioneers Paul and Suzee Grilley with whom she has been studying regularly with since 2011. In recent years, Leta has also been diving into the world of somatics, enriching her practice and teaching in the Embodied FlowTM school with Tara Judelle and Dr. Scott Lyons-

"Leta's teacher training is a great way for you to deepen your practice and knowledge of yoga, whether you plan to teach or not. Her functional approach to yoga helps you build confidence and knowledge of your own body's limits and possibilites as well as for others.  This will benefit you to guide others in a safe way in their practice. Her supportive personality, vast experience and holistic view of yoga allows you to learn and grow on and off the mat."  -- Cat, yogaROCKS TT graduate
