Myofascial release (MFR) and yin yoga are both powerful techniques that combined intelligently become an even more potent practice of self-healing.  This training is for yin yoga teachers and practitioners who want to learn myofascial release techniques that can be used independently or in combination with yin yoga postures to ease soft tissue pain and emotional stress, improve circulation and mobility, and support overall health.

In this 20 hour training you will:

• Experience the profoundly relaxing practice of yin yoga with myofascial release
• Deepen your understanding of fascia and “fascial fitness”
• Learn about trigger points
• Learn MFR and self-massage techniques for the entire body using a variety of balls and tools
• Review theory and practice of yin yoga
• Learn how to combine yin yoga & MFR into an integrative mind-body practice
• Explore empowering strategies for facilitation that elicit mindful presence

RYT200 Yin jooga opettajakoulutus

Would you like to guide others in the deeply nourishing practice of yin yoga?  To create pathways for introspection and healing?  To get certified to teach?  Welcome to Yin Yoga Teacher Training!

Our foundational 50-hour module covers everything you need to safely and effectively guide students in the practice of Yin Yoga.  The expanded 200-hour program delves further into specific aspects of yin, adding layers of depth while building more advanced facilitation skills and enriching your personal practice. Complete the four modules below and you’ll be eligible to register as RYT200 with Yoga Alliance.  You will also be a seriously well-educated yin yoga teacher, as the value and level of each individual module is high!

All four 50-hour modules below (and our 20 hour continuing education programs) can also be taken independently by new or established yoga teachers.

Module 1: YIN YOGA FOUNDATIONS

Dates:  July 23 - 28, 2024 (Tuesday – Sunday), 9:00 - 18:00 daily

This foundational 50 hour module is a comprehensive yin yoga teacher training in and of itself.  Dive into the nuts and bolts of bodies and all the essentials of the practice, including the archetypal pose families and the functional approach created by yin yoga founder Paul Grilley.  Learn to craft intelligent sequences and to teach them in a way that honors each individual’s unique body.  We will also explore beyond the physical to energetic theories and the level of mind and emotions, learning to take a personalized, contemplative and holistic approach to the practice.

Module 2: YIN YOGA ENERGETICS

Dates:  (3 Weekends) September 21 - 22, October 5 - 6, October 19 - 20. 2024,  9:00-18:00 daily

We are complex, multidimensional beings.  When we’re practicing or teaching yoga, we might be working with the physical body, but we’re also shifting and transmuting energy in a subtle form.  This 50 hour module takes us into the energetic aspects of yin yoga through dual perspectives: Traditional Chinese Medicine and yogic views of the energy body.  Three days are devoted to gaining a basic understanding of TCM principles and how they can inspire our teaching and personal wellbeing. Learn the meridian pathways and techniques like meridian tapping and nidra, and explore practicing and theming through the compelling holistic lens of TCM. 

The second half of the training focuses on energetic anatomy and energy cultivation techniques from a traditional hatha yoga perspective.  Learn powerful tools like mantra, pranayama and bandha, along with their application in a yin yoga context.  Deepen understanding of your own energetic ecosystem as we immerse in yin yoga and meditation practice.

Module 3: YIN RESILIENCE

Dates: January 11 - 12, February 8 - 9, March 1 - 2.2025, 9:00 - 18:00 daily

The focus of this 50 hour module is the body-mind connection and how we can use yin yoga for healing, balancing, and the building of resiliance.  We’ll learn about the nervous system, polyvagal theory and stress recovery.  We’ll explore ways to enhance the therapeutic quality of our offerings by incorporating techniques from restorative yoga and somatics.  In our practice, we’ll explore a variety of somatic meditations and ways to weave these into a yin yoga offering.  We’ll refine teaching skills with an emphasis on trauma-sensitive facilitation.  As with all modules in our yin yoga teacher training, studies will be grounded in the Functional Approach of Paul Grilly – the perfect platform for fostering autonomy and mindful interoception on the mat.

Module 4: YIN INSIGHT

Dates:  (3 weekends) April 12 - 13.2025, May 3 - 4.2025, May 17 - 18.2025, 9:00-18:00 daily

As yoga facilitators, it’s important we learn about the history and ideas of this great wisdom tradition.  It’s also vital to get clear about what motivates us in our personal practice and teaching.  What is it we wish to share? We want to be able to articulate the teachings of yoga in our own voice, alchemized through our own experience in a way that resonates with our audience. 

This module is a unique blend of philosophy and self-exploration, as we dive into the traditional teachings of yoga and our own authentic expression.  We’ll be studying concepts from classical yoga texts including Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras and The Bhaghavad Gita.  We’ll develop teaching skills as we work further with languaging and theming, building skills for teaching to a level of mind and emotion with themes birthed from our own personal mission.  This final module of yin yoga teacher training is meant to inspire yoga off the mat, and is designed to help grow further along the path of teaching.

About Leta LaVigne

Leta LaVigne (E-RYT 500, YACEP) is the founder of yogaROCKS studios in Lahti and one of Finland's senior yin yoga teachers. She has been teaching full time since 2008 and has immersed herself in the practice and teaching of yin yoga since 2010. Leta has been greatly influenced by long term studies with Yin Yoga founder Paul Grilley, as well as other Grilley lineage teachers like Joe Barnett and Jo Phee.  As a devoted Grilley student, she teaches yin with a functional approach rather than relying on alignment rules.  Another teacher of particular influence in Leta's work is Tara Judelle, creator of the somatics-infused chool of Embodied Flow.

Leta has educated and mentored many teachers in Finland and Estonia over the years. She has written several articles on yin yoga for the publication Yoga Journal.  As an experienced teacher trainer who still teaches full time herself, Leta infuses her trainings with humor, warmth, and a wealth of practical experience. She has a love of helping new teachers identify and develop their unique strengths.
